The Secret of the Blue Door

No one in Maple Street ever talked about the house at the end of the road. It was old, with broken windows and a garden full of wild plants. The strangest thing about the house was its front door—it was painted bright blue, unlike any other house in town.

One afternoon, Mia and her best friend, Alex, were walking home from school when they noticed something strange. The blue door, which was always closed, was slightly open.

"Should we go inside?" Alex whispered.

Mia hesitated. Everyone in town said the house was haunted, but curiosity was stronger than fear. Slowly, they stepped onto the old wooden porch. The door creaked as they pushed it open. Inside, the house smelled of dust and forgotten memories. The furniture was covered with white sheets, and an old chandelier hung from the ceiling.

Then they heard a sound—footsteps upstairs.

Mia grabbed Alex’s hand. “Someone is here,” she whispered.

They moved slowly toward the staircase, but before they could take another step, a voice called out.

"Who's there?"

The two friends froze. Then, to their surprise, an old man walked down the stairs. He had a kind face and a warm smile.

"I suppose you've heard the stories," he said. "People think this house is haunted, but it’s just my home. I’ve lived here alone for many years."

Mia and Alex exchanged a look. They felt a little silly for believing the town’s stories.

The old man laughed. "Let me tell you the real history of this house."

That day, they sat in the old living room, listening to stories of the past. When they finally left, the house no longer seemed scary. It was just an old home, full of memories, waiting for someone to listen.
