Boom! A loud thunder wakes Leo up in the middle of the night. He looks at the clock—it's midnight. The rain is heavy, and the wind is strong. Suddenly, he hears a strange noise outside his window.
Leo gets out of bed and looks outside. He sees a small shadow moving in the garden. "What is that?" he whispers. He takes his flashlight and slowly opens the door.
When he steps outside, he sees a little kitten, wet and shivering under a tree. "Oh no, you must be so cold!" Leo carefully picks up the kitten and takes it inside. He dries it with a towel and gives it some warm milk.
The kitten looks at Leo with big, bright eyes and purrs. Leo smiles. "I will call you Storm," he says.
The next morning, he asks his neighbors if they lost a kitten, but no one has. His parents say, "Maybe Storm can stay with us." Leo is very happy. He now has a new best friend!
